Cold Truths -#6 : Sitting Still Is a Skill
Stillness Isn’t Easy
Anyone can climb a tree. Not everyone can sit it right. Phones come out. Heads turn. Feet shift. Boredom creeps in. And deer notice every bit of it. I'm guilty of it all. Sometimes I wish I could just let my phone at home, but it's hard 😕.
The Longer You Sit, the More You Learn
I’ve watched squirrels freeze at the same time deer were coming in. Birds go quiet. The woods changes tempo before you ever see movement. If you’re constantly adjusting, you miss those cues.
Earn the Late Sit
The last hour of daylight belongs to people who didn’t quit mentally three hours earlier. Cold truth? Most blown opportunities come from impatience, not bad luck. I've spooked more than 1 deer while checking or answering a text. Back before cell phones, all you had to do was look around the woods. Unless you brought a deck of cards along and played solitaire 🙃.
FinalThoughts :
I still mess this up. But the days I don’t are usually the days I see deer. If you can buckle down and just hunt, you'll definitely notice alot more. Or possibly see deer long before they see you. Or hear whatever movie you're watching on Netflix. Good luck my fellow DIY'ers and stay focused…Also, leave a comment…
Last few minutes of the day, stay alert folks…
